About Richmond Knitters

The Richmond Knitters meet every Monday night at The Spread Eagle, 372 Bridge Rd, Richmond from 6pm.

We are a social knitting group, therefore we don’t actually teach Knitting from scratch (being able to cast-on and knit the knit stitch is all you need to know). We support and enable stash building. New members are welcome to just come along, no RSVP is required.

You can visit our blog here to see what we get up to.

  1. Greetings from Christchurch! I am a Canadian knitter , new to New Zealand. I have a question for Sonia and the Richmond Knitters…Would anyone be interested in knitting a Mexican Luchador mask? My partner and I are coming to Melbourne for the comedy festival. We are wondering if anyone would be interested in trading a knitted mask for tickets to a show. I would knit it myself but it would take ages! I have been knitting for years but alas haven’t progressed much further than baby blankets and scarves. I don’t want to insult anyone by asking as I know a lot of time is involved in any project, but we would pay for materials, we would offer two tickets to a very good comedy show during the festival and I would be happy to knit something for one of the local knit charities in return. If we had money we would offer to pay guild rates of course. We are offering to barter instead.Obviously we would give credit to the hero knitter and a shout out to the Richmond Knitters or Sonia on our social media. This is the show it would be for http://www.comedyfestival.com.au/2014/season/shows/the-rise-of-el-jaguar-el-jaguar If this peaks anyone’s interest please contact Michi at meegwai@gmail.com. Hoping I get a chance to drop in on a Monday night in April 🙂

    1. Hi Michelle, it sounds like a really fun project, unfortunately I don’t have the time to assist you, but I will certainly ask any Richmond Knitters who may be interested to get in touch. I would also highly recommend you putting your request on Ravelry in the SnB Melbourne group chat forum:

Good luck, and we hope to see you at a knit night soon!

      1. Hey Sonia,
Thanks so much! I have just started a discussion topic with my post on snb-Melbourne . Is that the best way to go about it? I don’t know what the etiquette is in these groups? Is it ok for me to post the question on other threads? I am excited to be in Melbourne for the Festival and even more excited I think now about going to knit nights while I’m there! I’ll be there for a month. Love the city and just can’t wait! Thanks again!

Don’t let the wrestling turn you off. It really has nothing to do with wrestling 🙂 Hope to see you this weekend!
